Health and Safety in the Make-up Studio & how to set up properly for your model


  • Make sure you are correctly dressed
  • Bags and coats are hung out the way 
  • Hair tied back, off the face
  • Flat shoes to prevent slips trips or falls
  • Good personal hygiene, not too much perfume, if you smoke remember gum, no model wants to smell that
  • Hands are thoroughly washed before creating a make-up look
  • Anti Bacterial is great to keep in your kit
  • Make-up brushes are clean ready to be used and clean between each client with alcohol cleaner
  • Keeping your brushes sterile is essential- prevent cross contamination
  • Turn on mirrors 
  • Adjust chair to suit you whilst doing your models make-up, prevent back pains
  • Your area is clean and tidy
  • Make sure you work in an organised manner with brushes and products laid neatly 
  • Carry out consultation if needed on model- skin analysis
  • Overall be friendly, confident and professional at all times
