White base Practice

The White face bases- Worked in groups of 3

Class notes and personal practise

1. Illamasqua white foundation

We found when applying this foundation on top of cleansed, moisturised and primed skin, it was a very light consistency, you would need a lot to really give great white coverage of the skin. It was more like a water paint effect on the skin than foundation.
It appeared blotchy, rough and little speckled; although the 9725  which was the big black brush, the foundation brush was used to apply but left the consistency very streaky, but managed to touch up with the rounded black brush to give it an even appearance.
We felt like this wasn't the best product to use for a heavy, white Elizabethan look and it would be very time consuming, having to build layers upon layers to really see a good change. I do like the sheer blendable texture it gives and the sheer overall finish of the product, it is more natural looking compared to the others. However, this product is best to mix to lighten a foundation or other uses.

2. Supra Colour Palette

We found this white colour in the palette so easy to apply, very effortless, a little amount was needed to cover the entire face, it had a great smooth textured finished and brilliant white coverage. The product is like paint, it is very movable, we applied it with the foundation brush then buffed with the goats hair brush by Charles Fox, it is really easy to build upon and gave a great finish to the desired look we were after. We were very happy and pleased with how this product turned out, compared to the first product used (Illamasqua white foundation) .

3. Aqua Colour

We used the foundation brush to apply this product also with the use of a small bowl of water, as this help with the consistency of the product, again you do not need much product but it was hard to mix to get an even base. We were trying different techniques with the brushes in order to create an even look, but this seemed challenging as it was patchy in places and it seemed very fussy and difficult to control the product. We believe an application with use of a sponge would be easier for future preferences and ideal for small precise work not a mass area.

Overall, we chose the Supra Colour Palette, it was quick easy to blend in as well as giving a vibrant white tone, brushes worked well with managing the product to get the ideal base. A little product was needed and all of the steps worked well and overall satisfied with this product.

Aqua Colour which was used on myself with is needed with the use of water and reinforces our views, we loved the product but was a little fussy and difficult to manage.

Us three from left looking very pale: Aqua Colour, then Illamasqua white foundation and Supra colour (Our favourite one!)
